Arthritis

Overview

A feeling of pain or discomfort in the joints is referred to as joint pain. While joint pain is frequently brought on by ageing, it can also be brought on by other causes such as weight, previous injuries, misuse, and underlying systemic medical disorders. Major joints like the knee, hip, ankle, or wrist are the most commonly affected by joint pain. Systemic diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, etc. can also affect joints. Causes of joint pain may include adult Still's disease, ankylosing spondylitis, avascular necrosis (death of bone tissue due to limited blood flow), cancer, broken bone, joint inflammation, chronic pain due to a dysfunctional nervous system and fibromyalgia. Joint discomfort is typically treated with drugs that either cure the underlying cause of the pain or give symptomatic relief, such as opioids. Surgery is also advised in a few circumstances. Exercise, yoga, and physiotherapy are a few additional therapy that have been shown to help with joint discomfort.
